Let’s start with our classic tiramisu recipe.
- With an electric mixer, whip egg yolks and 50 grams of sugar together. You must whip them until they are pale yellow in color and their volume gets triple.
- Another indication to check the fluffiness of the whipped mixture is that a slight ribbon should fall off from the electric mixer when you switch it off and take it out of the bowl.
- In another bowl, mix whip cream and the other 50 grams of sugar together till soft-medium peaks are noticed.
- Then add mascarpone and continue whipping. It would make a soft and spreadable mixture that would be easy to lay down in a serving dish for Tiramisu.
- Combine this mixture with the egg yolk mixture prepared earlier. Mix them gently, not with a whisker or electric mixer. Just fold over one another with a spatula, maybe. Make sure to combine them well.
- Now mix espresso and rum in a new bowl. Keep it aside for use later.
- In a serving dish, preferably a flat rectangular one, sift cocoa powder evenly inside all of its base. An 8×8 inches dish would also be a good idea.
- It is time to work on ladyfingers. Dip one ladyfinger at a time in the espresso mixture and place them in the serving dish. Keep in mind to place the curved side facing upwards in the dish.
- Repeat the process for all of the ladyfingers and evenly spread them in the entire base. This would make the first layer of the Tiramisu recipe. Don’t mind if any little bit of space is left in between the ladyfingers.
- Spread half of the creamy mixture onto the ladyfingers layer in the dish.
- Dust some cocoa powder on top of this layer. You can also add chocolate if you like.
- Add another layer of ladyfingers dipped in espresso mixture and add the remaining cream mixture to make a second layer. Dust some generous amount of cocoa powder or chocolate over the top for giving the final touches to our classic Tiramisu recipe.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and keep it in the refrigerator for 4 hours at least.
- Let it cool firmly with all the placings of the dessert evenly set.
- Slice it before serving and you are ready to enjoy Tiramisu at your home!
