Ingredients

  • Boneless and skinless chicken thighs: 8 (Or more, as per your requirement)
  • Cooking oil: for deep frying

  • Buttermilk: 2 cups
  • Salt: 1 tablespoon (or as per your taste)
  • Paprika: 1 teaspoon

  • Salt: 2 teaspoon
  •  Black pepper: 2 teaspoon
  • Onion powder: 2 teaspoon
  • Baking powder: 2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder: 2 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch: 1/3 cup
  • All-purpose flour: 3 cups

And, we are not forgetting the chicken and waffles sauce here, for which you would need:

  • Honey: ¼ cup (You can use maple syrup too)
  • Salt: half teaspoon
  • Unsalted butter: 4 tablespoon
  • Chilli powder: half teaspoon

For waffles, you must have:

  • All-purpose flour: 2 ¼ cups
  • Powdered cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar: ¼ cup (granulated)
  • Baking powder: ¼ cup
  • Salt: half teaspoon 
  • Eggs: 2 large and separated
  • Milk: 2 cups
  • Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoon
  • Oil: ½ cup 

Procedure 

To make a chicken and waffles recipe, the easy way, read below.

  1. Combine buttermilk, salt, onion and garlic powders, paprika, and chilli sauce in a large mixing bowl. If you like, you can substitute chilli powder for the chilli sauce.
  2. To this bowl, add the boneless chicken. Cover it completely with the mixture on both sides.
  3. For margination, wrap the bowl in plastic wrap and let it aside for an hour.

TIP: If you are planning your Sunday brunch on Saturday night, keep it overnight.

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a large oven pot over the stove. 
  2. While the oil is heating up, take another large bowl and add flour, baking powder, cornstarch, and other seasonings. 
  3. Take each chicken thigh from the first bowl, add to the seasoning bowl, and cover it thoroughly from all sides to make a firm coating all around. 
  4. Keep this coated thigh for five minutes on an empty plate aside before frying. 
  5. Now fry each of the thighs in heated cooking oil for 8-9 minutes, Or when you think the chicken is brown and well-cooked from both sides, It should have a nice golden colour. 
  6. For chicken and waffles sauce, take a small saucepan and melt butter in it.
  7. The heat should be medium to avoid the butter from burning.
  8. Add honey, chilli powder, and salt too. 
  9. Lower the flame when you think the sauce is thick enough for serving.
  10. Keep it aside once you know the chicken and waffles recipe is complete.
  11. WHICH IS NOT (right now), until the waffles are ready!!
  12. You surely know you need a waffles iron for making the waffles, right?
  13. So, moving on, spray the cooking spray all over the iron and leave it a preheat. 
  14. Take a large bowl for whisking flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon all together. 
  15. In a separate bowl, mix the egg whites first. It is recommended you do it with a hand mixer to make it fast and prevent you from tiring up.
